Online therapy and couples counselling, from wherever you are.

Not everyone can easily get to an appointment. Work, family, travel and simply feeling worn out can all make it hard to fit therapy into a week. Online sessions offer the same calm, thoughtful support as our rooms in Caulfield South, from the comfort and privacy of your own space.

Sessions take place by video on Zoom, using a computer, tablet or phone. They run for 50 minutes, just like sessions in person.

How online sessions work

  1. Book online. Choose your appointment type, select Online and pick a time that suits you.
  2. Get ready to join. Before your appointment you’ll receive the details for joining by Zoom.
  3. Find a private space. Somewhere quiet where you won’t be interrupted or overheard.
  4. Meet your psychologist. Your 50-minute session is just like being in the room: unhurried, collaborative and at a pace that feels manageable.

Getting the most from an online session

  • Join from a private room, or even a parked car, where you can speak freely
  • Use headphones for privacy and clearer sound
  • Check your device is charged and your connection is steady
  • Close other apps and turn off notifications
  • Have water nearby, and allow a few quiet minutes after the session before moving on with your day

Fees and Medicare

Online sessions are the same fee as sessions in person: $240 for individual therapy and $250 for couples counselling (after-hours fees apply).

If you have a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan from your doctor, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate of $101.55 per individual session. Medicare rebates are not available for couples counselling. See all fees and policies.

Common questions

Is online therapy as helpful as meeting in person?

Research suggests that for many people, therapy by video can be as helpful as meeting face to face, particularly for concerns such as anxiety and stress. What matters most is a good working relationship with your psychologist, and that can develop online too.

What do I need for an online session?

A computer, tablet or phone with a camera, a reliable internet connection and the Zoom app or a web browser. Headphones help with privacy and sound.

Can I claim Medicare for online sessions?

If you have a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan from your doctor, Medicare rebates apply to online individual therapy sessions in the same way as in-person sessions (subject to Medicare guidelines). Rebates are not available for couples counselling.

Is an online session confidential?

Yes. Online sessions follow the same confidentiality as sessions in our rooms. We ask that you join from a private space where you won’t be overheard.

Can couples have counselling online?

Yes. Partners usually join together from one device in a quiet, private room. If you’ll be in different places, let us know when you book.
