Couples counselling for partners feeling stuck in conflict, distance or disconnection.
Many couples seek therapy when communication has broken down, arguments feel repetitive, or there is a growing sense of distance or misunderstanding in the relationship.
You may find yourselves stuck in the same patterns, unsure how to shift them, even though you care deeply about one another.
For some couples, this distance shows up emotionally. For others, it affects physical or sexual intimacy, with closeness feeling strained, awkward, or difficult to talk about.
Couples counselling offers a space to slow things down, understand what’s happening between you, and find more constructive ways of relating.
This work is not about assigning blame, but about making sense of the patterns that keep couples stuck and helping both partners feel heard and understood.
How We Work With Couples
We work with couples who want to improve communication, rebuild trust and strengthen their connection, including when intimacy has become a source of tension or distance.
Our approach is calm, structured and collaborative, helping couples understand their interaction patterns and the emotions that drive them.
The focus is on building understanding and changes that can be sustained outside the therapy room.
In sessions, couples are supported to:
Identify unhelpful cycles of conflict, withdrawal or disconnection
Understand how each partner’s responses affect the other
Talk more openly about emotional and physical intimacy
Communicate more clearly and safely
Respond to difficult moments with greater awareness and choice
Our Approach
Our work draws on evidence-based couples therapy approaches, including Emotion Focused Therapy. Sessions are paced carefully, with attention to safety, respect and what feels manageable for both partners.
Intimacy concerns are approached thoughtfully and at a pace that feels respectful, without pressure or expectation. Couples do not need to have everything worked out before beginning. The work starts where you are.
Getting Started
Couples counselling sessions can be booked online using our secure booking system.
If you have a specific question about suitability or availability, you’re welcome to get in touch by email or phone.
The first session provides an opportunity to talk through what has brought you to counselling and what you would like to change. From there, you can decide together whether and how to continue.
