Karen Workman is a pioneer in bringing together experiential psychotherapy, psychology and spirituality. Trained in classical humanistic psychology in the 1970′s she began her interest in psychological growth through the lens of the eastern wisdom traditions in the 1980′s. During the last twenty years she has been influenced by some of the finest teachers, including Ron Kurtz & Pat Ogden. A master in working with subtle energies, she weaves psychology, mindful self awareness and loving presence creating an elevated focus for psychotherapy. Hakomi Experiential Psychotherapy, traditional Gendai Reiki ho, the contemplative approaches drawn from Kashmir Shaivism, yoga and traditional Reikiho are cradled in joyful supportive encouragement.

As a specialist in anxiety disorders, trauma resolution, OCD, Asperger’s Syndrome, depression, relationships and disorders relating to eating and addiction, Karen is known for her warmth and gentle strength. She openly advocates hope and freedom from stigma, self limitation and pain.
Professional Interests
For many years, Karen facilitated Hakomi training and workshops in Australia, then continued in 2002 to support the introduction of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for trauma resolution. She is also an avid supporter and qualified teacher of “Right Use of Power”, the heartful approach to power & ethics developed by Cedar Barstow. She has a full time private practice in Sydney, as well as travelling regularly to teach and offer sessions in Melbourne and Brisbane.
